Our Brewery

ABOUT OUR BREWERY

Ligonier Brewing Co. was founded in 1908, but operated only briefly, closing down well before Prohibition in 1920. It was reconstituted at this particular location in Ligonier in 2024, where a popular Chevrolet dealership once served the Ligonier community for multiple generations.

According to property deed records, this particular site hosted a historic tavern, before the Farabaugh family ever operated a Chevrolet dealership and repair shop.  Our building, however, was designed primarily for industrial use.  It contains more than 11,000 square feet, with plenty of parking available on 5+ acres, just a mile from the Ligonier Diamond.

Our Taproom is located at the front of the building, where the car showroom and salespeople once worked. This area retains its industrial feel, but also has an upscale bar area with hardwood floors and the same quality wooden walls that once adorned the sales offices of the car dealership.  We have plenty of seating in this part of the building, along with two restrooms and an outdoor porch.  The taproom is open year-round.

Our brewery operation, with an expansive communal bar and large-screen televisions, is open to the public primarily in the summer, when we host live musicians and large groups in our spacious industrial garage.  There is an outdoor seating area – overlooking nearby farmland and Mill Creek – as well as outdoor activities and games for the entire family.

The back portion of the building, behind the brewery, contains a large indoor game room, filled with billiards and ping-pong tables. We host musical and comedy acts in this part of the building on certain nights.

OUR TOWN

Named by Country Living Magazine as one of “The Most Charming Small Towns in America”, Ligonier is steeped in history, dating back to the French and Indian War. Fort Ligonier is the historic site where a young Colonel, George Washington, once led war operations: It is now a vibrant museum.  Crowds flock to Ligonier each year for Fort Days, the Ice Fest, the Ligonier Country Market, and Idlewild Park (named the best family amusement park in the United States).  Ligonier offers galleries, quality restaurants, more than 60 specialty shops, top-ranked golf courses and fishing streams, and upscale places to spend the night. With a history of promoting locally-owned businesses, the town of Ligonier has deliberately shunned chain restaurants and big-box stores.  Ligonier is filled with friendly people who like to drink beer.

OUR Team

Shaylea Weaver

Shaylea Weaver grew up just 22 miles away from Ligonier, where she brewed beer as a young girl with her father.  She has been a resident of Ligonier Township for the past three years.  Shaylea studied culinary arts and hospitality at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).  Prior to the brewery’s launch, she worked as a chef in Ligonier at the Kitchen on Main, Sweet Rust Distilling, and the Laurel Valley Golf Club.

Barrett Goddard

Barrett Goddard is a Ligonier native and currently lives in the Ligonier borough with his wife and three daughters.  A chemical engineer by training, who studied at Bucknell University, Barrett started in the brewing industry in 2001 as an assistant at John Harvard’s Brew House in Monroeville, PA, before moving to the West Virginia Brewing Company in Morgantown, WV. In mid-2000s, Goddard moved again to brew beer in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  And, in 2008, Barrett and some friends founded Full Pint Brewing Co. in North Versailles, PA, where Barrett was the Head Brewer.
